Here are some recent pics. The most recent being this juice I had this morning. Green concoction of green kiwi, green spinach, not so green grapefruit and green celery. Did I mention it also looks kindda green?

The other day was trying to start the engine and to my horror...

its 41 deg Celcius!!! thank goodness for the rain these few days to bring that number down...
Yes, this was the causeway pic i took that day when I aborted (my passport event. see previous post) operation jb. pretty nice dusky mood...

And I went to Edinborough the other day. So took some pics with the handy also.

Heh, to end it all, he's Luca, age 4 months. Ultimate cuteness... =]

| | lethargic | ] | and it happened yet again! I can't believe it. and I'm sure it'll happen again.
Wednesday night, I tried to drive across the causeway in the evening. bad choice, encountered a little jam, so diverted to woodlands. Called SC up, but he already had a previous engagement; and as I was walking back up towards the car, bumped into HS jogging. What a small world this is.
Anyhow, went back home, decided to try again on thursday afternoon.
Sky went black. Took a bit of biscuits and water, and dashed out of the house with the bag and water bottle, reached level 1, realised rain was coming and I forgot to close the windows. Went back up to the house, dropped the bag, shut all the windows and all, went down again to the car, and it poured the moment I got in the car. "HENG AH!" I thought.
Drove up the BKE, got to the customs complex without jam... then approaching the complex up the ramp, "SH&*", "where's the passport???????"
And so had to go through the queue to the booth, tell the officer the embarrassing story, they had to close the booth, get another officer to come from the office, ESCORT me to the office, fill in a book with details etc, and finally open the gate to go out blah blah blah. 30minutes, that's how long it takes...
... and just so we know, the number of people who forget to bring passport while attempting to cross the causeway, per day, comes roughly in the regime of 15. Well, there are others who can miss a turn and end up at the customs when where they want to go is just woodlands or something...
so went back, got home, dashed out of the car in the rain, grab the passport, and dashed back to the customs again. One hour later, and i'm finally in jb. finally.
then reached home, just to find my gate lock CHANGED! wait, it gets better: the handphone went auto shutdown cos the battery was "dangerouly low". So near yet so far.
and I was back to the teenage days of throwing stones at my dad's room to get him to open the doors. |

No no, don't make a scene, it's not worth the stooping.
No no, don't fight back, it's not worth that stooping too.
Contempt, then a smile. If it can't lodge on you, the tactic fails. There is more to life than to respond to things like these man... like... I'm getting a new phone! well, not new "new", but old "new"... basically been waiting for the price to drop for coming to 7months, and its finally within reach!!! Yeehaw!
Other than that, the sim assessment/check that's been dragging for a month finally ended, at least the results were promising.. =)
Doing plenty of flights with instructors... and no trainees! that can only mean that I'm the trainee... or in other words, I'm on check again. So many... so many... gimme a break man. It's not like I'll be due for command soon or anything right, not yet at least, not for the next... let's see... 4-5 years? Let me have my peace preese.
hmmmm, i think the property marketeers are still living in their little wonderland... 25yo properties insisting on asking for 1.3 million eventhough the valuation is only at 1. When I was growing up, the houses don't even cost anywhere near 300grand... its downright ridiculous. Yes, that's the second "downright" I've used. They say when the price of housing outpaces the salary increment, it only means its a bubble. I'm waiting to pin prick this huge one man.
As economist shelf and substitute theories and opinions "backed by sound financial and economic principles" to suit the rising or falling trend of the market (you know la, when it rises, they tell you the worse is over, and we're DEFINITELY out of this recession; and when it drops a few days later, they just say its profit taking), we all know then there is no sound economic principle behind it all. Its just greed. and insecurity. and so it burns itself to burn by itself.

Back from work. Tomorrow still have a standby. Pffft... what a pot of $^#^*^. Finally got to start May edition Monocle, though haven't finished the novel and that other book, and not to mention that other chinese book, and the other manual that i have to been putting off for years (phew)... anyway... First few pages into, and realised Nakata was now editor-at-large. Flipped thru last month's and the months before that, seemed Mr N boarded only in April.
Sigh, some guys get all the luck. Well, they did say fortune favours the bold.
Heard from a friend he saw Hide before somewhere, and he's actually not quite the very tall. Then i told him i had a hairstyle way back when i was in HK, and dyed to some tint of bronze that made every one in the dorm scream: "哇!中田英秀!“ (and I do have the photo to prove it! just that can't seem to find it anywhere....) erhmm erhmm... that was a little confidence booster... but when i got back to this part of the world, seemed the hairstyle and colour's only favoured by the customs officers, which landed me in the back office with tonnes of other green and blue hairs, with a plastic can (for fluidus ureanus) and a white sticker label (for my name). pffft... Mein Kampf *roll eyes*
well, looks like there's never gonna be much ova chance for me to make my stage left out from this, so might as well sit and daydream the rest of it off. (hah, so Ah-Q) Sometimes I really wonder what is going to happen to me. anyway, today called up on standby to do a support for another colleague on his check in the sim... zoomed back afterwards took half an hour, though it was only 23km... seemed illogical right? i go at 90kph, and 23km took 30mins... so on the average, i'm actually only going at 46kph, half that cruise speed. and it takes me the same 30mins to get to orchard (25km), causeway takes 20mins... that means i'm staying in the middle of nowhere. *sad* but but, it also means no matter how much faster i go, its not gonna make much of a difference. I think i blogged about this before, so i shan't repeat. traffic is really a killer.
oh, then i saw some signs in melbourne one time, it said :" driving is not a game"... very good, singaporean drivers need to heed that... and "slowing down won't kill you - wipe off 10"... even better, tell that to evo-egos and subaby racers la... and yes, the honda goondoos...
Man is never satisfied. The best thing i can hope for now is a plot of rice field in Kitakyushu with a shed in the middle to call home... otherwise somewhere closer to anywhere! Very depressing the prices of homes...

星に願いを - flumpool
So a friend reminded me of the eternal question the other day.
"Tell me, what DID you want to do when you were growing up?"
Of course, I gave the age-old answer prepared 20yrs ago in a blink, no thoughts required.
"Then, do you like what you are doing now?"
Now, now, now, that is a totally different universe. In fact, I've been thinking about it the past few weeks, and along with it, the first question. Then I thought to myself: "So, what do I really want?"
You see, its no crime to have a kid growing up wanting to be a fireman, lawyer, doctor, teacher, police... etc. We all have our justifications: contribute to society while in the meantime earning tonnes of money/looking damn cool, scoring a few chicks along the way and earning mom's nod of approval from the very beginning. Sweet.
... AND on the other hand, you have Terry.
For this skinny wimpy kid, things were not very bright looking then, you see. His days were spent playing more than studying, homework was just something to be over and done with, much like the rest of the kids, but he had one thing lacking- he didn't want to grow up, and didn't want to think about what he wanted to be when the worst case scenario happened that is if he grows up.
So, in view of the yearly appearance of that same essay question, he devised the perfect solution to the conundrum, and that is: he'll be what the guy/gal NEXT to him wants to be. Cool, ain't it. After all, everybody will choose to be only a handful of society-contributing, great personalities; the pool couldn't have been too big to handle, and to give the reason would be as easy as opening one of the 九宫格 and picking the same old gags. Police, fireman, teacher, doctor, lawyer... ... ... you name it.
So time and again, the inadvertent came and went, and secondary school (came and went). Then as an impressionistic youth, we all get influenced by books and magazines and ECA's and whatnots.
Mathematicians, scientists, jazz saxophonist, concert flautist...
Doctor.
どして?本から。Why? because he read a book on a practising doctor in Africa, who'd also had been a concert organist, theologist, etc. Wouldn't that be fun? to be all of the things you want to be. Its like a liberation of thoughts, you don't just HAVE to be ONE thing and one thing only. And so, this boy moved in the direction of vanity, and sought exactly that through the next institution.
Well, to cut the whole story short, let's just say, he met someone who provided some insight, tilted his expectation enough just to let the lazy boy rethink his resolution. Then guess what, while he was filling in the U-app form, the person sitting next to him wanted to be an engineer, and the cycle repeats...
So now what?... this post is getting too long, i'll continue in another post.

Its a nice and cool place all year round, the design capital of the scandinaviches (in my opinion of course), and nobody would disturb me, as in, as me to go out and have kebab and sorts. So, plenty of chances for solitary walks and plenty of picture taking too.
Copenhagen, according to wiki, stems from København, which means the "merchant's haven", probably so 200 years ago in the heyday of the Amsterdam republic etc. Land of fairytales, its a country of spires and statues, a working monarchy and the little mermaid... not to mention Hans Christian Anderson - Mr Anderson... | | JS Bach: Prelude & Fugue in C Major BWV 846 | ] | ... So i finally got down to doing some picture taking again, after so long a time. Not to mention the long walks on which the pictures were taken. Nice weather, a good time of day, hunger, boredom- you name it- could be the impetus to go for a walk. Of course, weather forms the main bulk of the excuse NOT to walk in singapore, especially out on the shopping streets... well that's another matter altogether - the crowd... the crowd, and oh how I hate the crowds.
What normally transpires me to write are the thoughts that flash past on all these walks. But of late, I almost always experience total silence in the higher departments, save for a few noise I gaggle once in a while to assure myself that I'm still not dumb. And since silence prevails nowsaday, many of the pictures also reflect this tendency, so much so that I think they're on the verge of Islamic Art where not a single soul is to be found within the frame.
Well, anyway, here goes. I think I'll split them into 3 postings so they won't jam up the bandwidth.
Here's London, as promised. My other london photos are probably dated 2 yrs ago... somewhere within this blog also...
So from the hotel, the closest landmark, other than the museums, is this: Harrod's, at Knightsbridge, Kensington High Street.
Then the shops all along that same street...
Any typical london alleyway, with the phonebooths to authenticate...
The Nelson monument at Trafalgar Square, where I the lion, n I the man, were featured 4 yrs ago...
Oh, look who's here... since 2001... the atypical attelier to Terry Teo... heard they have one opened in Tampines 1 now, haven't visited it yet. and of course, we have to acknowledge the protesters to the G20 meeting that day by closing the main streets everywhere. Lucky I was on foot...
Guards' parade every Sunday outside Buckingham palace while the Queen is probably away at the Ascotts...
And the place I missed the last time, my favorite British museum with the looted glory of Egypt...
And finally, within the same compounds, a few Assyrian lion hunts to end the day.
Meanwhile, I'll be stuck in singapore for some weeks doing turnarounds and checks and the like; still working hard, though they were projecting reduced capacity. And of course I'm still trying to get the fingering for half the Fugue 846 right. did I hear: 大変ですね? I'm stupid, remember... Haha...
Just finish upto lesson 10 test last night, a little relief, so took the Jap teacher to, of all places, Robertson Quay for some sashimi and ramen. Well, it wasn't too bad, cept the bill which of course I was footing. I felt cheated, for the service that I was getting. But anyway, we all know jap restaurants always treat their corporate locals better. So, I'm excluding that place out for a while... and the search goes on for the next better place in town for a japanese meal...
I'll put up some Delhi and Malmö photos next. A bientot. |

Do we need to be intimate? Should there be a need to see each other ever so often; or would it suffer the great divide of time? I tried. Well, in a way, you could call it the simplification of your handphone addressbook.
You do all you can, then you wait for a follow up. Boy, is the world big...
You see how people change. You see how you are treated. Promises & empty promises, just as you have foreseen... then you see where you have ever stood. You get the smile, and you get the disappointment. Some people are gone for good, and some people are better gone. Well, at least, it shortened the list...

The things you have that are not needed, the people you've let down (that still makes you think about it from time to time), meaningless bickerings, arguments, quarrels, trying to prove who's wrong and who's not... all pile up, impedes growth, drags you down...
Lies upon deceits upon lies, the moral sleet tarnishes and chips, the image you see in the mirror faints ever more, the edges blurs, the image slurs; skewed becomes you, death becomes her, what's left is what you have... but charred remains a piece of dead wood expunged, floating on a nourishing ocean.
You are right, it is time to sssssimplify. |
